!! TPi AWARDS 2010 - Favourite Rigging Company !!
Most riggers in the UK are technically self-employed and so when you ask us for riggers we deploy them on your behalf.
We use our knowledge, judgement and experience to make sure you get the right riggers for the job. We maintain accurate records of rigger's certifications and experience.
Even though the riggers are self-employed, we provide esential training in rescue techniques at the venues where we have rigging contracts. The ability to rescue people at height is a mandatory legal requirement in every venue in the UK
We check that all riggers booked through us are properly insured. However, many self-employed riggers have fairly limited levels of cover and so we provide extended cover for EVERY rigger booked through us. Our policy provides cover for up to £10 million and has no limitations as to height (many freelance rigger policies have height limits) or to numbers deployed at any one time.
In situations where we design and/or control the rigging operation, you are also then covered by our Professional Indemnity policy to £5 million for the advice we give and any decisions we make.

Many rigging operations are now carried out from the working platforms of various Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs), more commonly known as 'Pickers' and 'Carpets'. The insurances held by most self-employed riggers will cover damage done to a venue by the use of these machines but most do not cover damage to these expensive machines themselves. When the plant is booked through us then it is insured by us. We are covered up to £1 million for plant hired in to us, with a limit of £0.5 million for any individual machine. When using self-employed riggers, the legal chain of responsibility needs to be clear to avoid any breaches of the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER). We can always advise you on this critical issue that affects every single rigging activity in the UK.
We were one of the founders of this scheme, designed to enable the good riggers to have a recognised method of proving their competence and to form a method of measuring the progress of new riggers coming into the industry. Further details can be found here.
The person who knows abouit all this is David Bond, senior manager of our Rigging division. You can contact David directly on 07736 691615 or by email here.
