Health and Safety

We seek to ensure that all employees are provided with safe and healthy working conditions and that activities carried out by Star Events Group will never compromise the health or safety of other contractors working alongside us at events. Our policy is to always meet or exceed safety standards to ensure the safety of attendees. Throughout our history, we have worked closely with industry bodies to engage in the creation of new standards.

We are committed to continuously raising safety standards at events and practice this by investing in training for our team and ensuring that our equipment is designed and utilised with this in mind.

Training

Star Events Group runs an ongoing series of training courses for all of our technicians and operators, ensuring only competent staff are sent out to events. Following years of concentrated improvements to our company training programme and the continuing development of individual employees, Star Events Group has been an Investor In People company since 2000, with the most recent re-evaluation being in March 2007.

Star Events Group operates the only specialised training course on Temporary Structures in the UK. This takes place at the Emergency Planning College which is operated by The Cabinet Office and counts towards CPD requirements for delegates. Click Emergency Planning College for more details.

Environmental

Star Events Group has installed bulk fuelling facilities along with annual supply contracts so that all of our UK trucks and vans are now running on bio-diesel. Given that our extensive vehicle fleet clocks up over 1 million kilometres each year, this makes a very significant difference to our environmental impact.

In February 2008, the GLA will introduce the Low Emissions Zone (LEZ) in London. Any commercial vehicle that does not meet the stringent new emission standards (Minimum of Euro 4) will be charged £200 per day to operate in London. We have several vehicles on our fleet that meet or exceed this standard so we can guarantee no excess charges for central London events. (As well as helping the environment)

All stage equipment is designed to be re-usable (the best environmental policy of all) and anything that cannot be re-used is recycled.
